Ivy Daure: I first met Maria in Brazil, the land of dance, parties and samba, in 2018 at the International Congress of Abratef- (Associação Brasileira de Terapia Familiar). Colleagues from the organisation scheduled a dialogue between the two of us on the subject of migration.
We had a few brief exchanges before the presentation. Our talk went very well and we got on really well. Maria, who is very curious and keen to discover new things, agreed to change hotels and move closer to the centre of Rio de Janeiro so that she could spend two days with me and my family. Although we didn’t know each other, we spent two very warm days in Rio with Maria, full of enthusiasm and the desire to taste, see and experience the city from every angle. It was during this time that the idea for our first book was born. A few months later, we met up again in Bordeaux and then Béziers, and the programme included an evening of dancing, where I discovered that Maria has rhythm in her skin. Since then, we’ve tried to see each other regularly for our various writing projects.
Six years on, we’ve co-ordinated five books together, in three different languages, and the last time we worked together was at the Nice Carnival.  There we got together to work on a new book on Systemic Supervision and we also took part in the Carnival, dancing and writing together. So, if you want to know where Maria Borcsa is during the gala evening at the EFTA conference in Lyon 2025, take a look at the dance floor.
