War and Peace

This document was written by participants of the online meeting regarding the international dramatic situation. The contributors (Mauro Mariotti, Valeria Pomini, Maria Grazia Sabatini, Peter Stratton) are part of the group of authors of “Evidenze e creatività in psicoterapia sistemica e relazionale,” a book published by Franco Angeli, scheduled for release on April 14, 2025, and edited by Mauro Mariotti, Camillo Loriedo, George Saba, Carlos E. Sluzki and Peter Stratton. This document has been sent to all the authors of the book, requesting their contributions and its dissemination to relevant individuals in our field. The EFTA President, Umberta Telfener, generously offered to share the document on the EFTA website. We hope that, as systemic workers and thinkers, our voices will be heard. We hope you, members of EFTA, will participate to the next meeting (to be scheduled) and with comments to be sent to or directly to EFTA ().

Proposals:
Creating a Manifesto from the systemic community on systemic values contrasting power, narcissism, and violent practices in international relationships. To accomplish the task an idea is
a) To create a short “manual” with best practice in communication, mediation, and conflict resolution  b) To collect thoughts and texts by any colleague who might want to participate and send, having as first inputs Jochen’s, Valeria’s, and the Assisi Manifesto, with the aim of editing a collective text.

The framework of our intervention:
a) Circulate reflections from a systemic perspective on the current international situation of wars and conflicts.
b) Share our expertise in communication, mediation, and conflict resolution.
c) Act and film roleplays in our schools to demonstrate how ordinary people can find better ways to resolve disputes over goods and territories than resorting to violence.

Context:
The EFTA Relates Conference in Lyon next August is a terrific opportunity to circulate and discuss our ideas. However, we expressed the need to voice our positions beforehand through press, social media, and professional associations.

Other options to reach the desired goal:

Host webinars and online discussions to engage a broader audience and gather diverse perspectives.

Collaborate with influential figures and organizations in the field of peace and conflict resolution to amplify our message.

Develop interactive workshops and training programs that can be implemented in various communities worldwide.

Create and distribute informative content such as videos, infographics, and articles to raise awareness and educate people on systemic values and conflict resolution techniques.

Launch a social media campaign to encourage public participation and share success stories of peaceful conflict resolution.
